Taste of Hungary ~ Chicago

The Chicago Hungarian Society is excited to present The Second Annual Taste of Hungary and would like to invite you and your family, friends to come join us on August 4th, 2012 for this mouthwatering festival!

Hungary has a very rich and lively cultural heritage including a distinctive language, unique traditions of music and dance, and most importantly it is a country with a myriad of culinary traditions!

Our special guests this year is the Szászka Folk Band – they guaranty live music throughout the day!

Come and enjoy a multitude of traditional Hungarian dishes including the world renowned Gulyás (the famous Hungarian goulash – a rich meat stew). The goulash will be made by this year’s Golden Spoon winner of the Gulyas Festival – The Hangulatos Gulyás team.

We will also have Halászlé – fisherman’s soup, and Meggyleves- chilled sour/tart cherry soup (which is actually sweet …). There will also be Kolozsvári káposzta – Transylvanian cabbage dish, Csirkepaprikás – chicken paprikash, and Brassói aprópecsenye – pork and potatoe plate, Bácskai rizseshús – meaty risotto and much more.

You’ll also find plenty of options to satisfy your sweet (and salty) tooth including Lángos – deep fried flat bread – elephant ears, Kürtőskalács – chimney cake and Palacsinta – crêpes!

A Chicago-i Magyar Társaság szeretettel hívja és várja Chicago magyarságát és barátaikat az 2. “Taste of Hungary”–re.

Idén a Szászka Népzenekar fogja szórakoztatni élő zenével minden kilátogató vendégünket.

Szeretnénk ízelítőt adni a magyarság hagyományaiból, jellegzetes ételeiből és kulturájából. Idén a Közönség díj nyertese – A Hangulatos Gulyás csapata – fogja elkészíteni gulyását – titkos receptjük alapján. Emellett halászlét és hideg meggylevest is kínálunk, de lesz kolozsvári káposzta, csirkepaprikás, brassó-i aprópecsenye, bácskai rizseshús és sok más is.

Természetesen, nem marad el a lángos, a kürtőskalács, és a palacsinta sem inyencségeing közül.
