Boldog Husvéti Ünnepeket! Happy Easter!
Spring is coming and soon Easter will be here before you know it! If you grew up with Hungarian traditions in your home, maybe you remember the wonderful smell of kalács, kifli, or rétes baking in the oven or maybe you helped with sausage and hurka preparations. Next month I will share a recipe for rakot krumpli–it is one of my favorite dishes and is a great way to use up all those hard boiled eggs from Easter! Many Hungarian traditions revolve around food so if you start looking, you will surely find one that appeals to your inner cook!

If you are baking for Easter, we carry apricot and prune lekvár! We also have a limited supply of fresh ground poppyseed. Please call us at 1-800-786-7851 to order these items. If you are in need of any Hungarian cookbooks, we have a number available at our website. Grab an adventurous friend or family member and try out a kifli recipe! Bring back an old family tradition!

March 15th is a national holiday in Hungary remembering the 1848 Revolution.

There are many events happening throughout the US. Here is a sampling of what we know about:

Dear Hungarian Friends!
March 15th is the holiday for the remembrance of the beginning of the 1848-1849 revolution and freedom fight, and the birth date of the modern parliamentarian system in Hungary. For this reason, we are going to organize a dinner on Sunday, March 13th 2011 during 5:00 and 8:00 pm. We extend our invitation and welcome to all Hungarians and people of Hungarian ancestry. Our desire is to have as many people present as possible. For this reason, we ask all of you to bring the attention of your friends and relatives to this event. This event will take place at The Fellowship Hall of Westport Road Baptist Church at 9705 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 40241.
