**Fish Fry Fridays begin Friday February 24 5-9 PM through Lent, April 6, 2012. In additon to our regular Friday menu we will be offering several fish dinner choices along with hush puppies and coleslaw.

**St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday, March 17, 2012 We will be featuring Corned Beef and Cabbage, Mulligan Stew in a bread bowl, Irish dessert and drink specials. Reservations required.

Learn the basic steps of Hungarian Dance with an emphasis on learning a simple dance from a Hungarian village. Csardas Dance Company’s mission is to promote and further ethnic dance as an art form as it embodies the infectious exuberance celebrated in Hungarian villages. The richness of the Hungarian culture is revealed through a broad range of dance dialects and styles. Here are two we did. We found that while markers have a stronger color, they are less forgiving. Colored pencils would work well too. The one font makes “Bálint” look like it has a long i and it doesn’t. It is just the style of dots it uses. I did not notice that when I picked the font.

There are many ways to express the love you have for others all year long, but there seems to be a stronger push around Valentine’s Day.

Cook something Hungarian–palacsinta, fank, chicken paprikas, stuffed peppers, mézeskalács, etc.

Pop open a bottle of something Hungarian–Egri Bikavér (Bull’s Blood Wine) is widely available in the US–check at Trader Joe’s.

Whisper a little something Hungarian–Boldog Bálint Napot or Szeretlek.

Send something Hungarian–We carry the Treasury of Hungarian Love Poems (a bilingual book) as well as felt heart boxes, the Great Plains Heart Pillow, Matyo Heart, Embroidered Heart from Kalocsa, and of course, our poppyseed and walnut kalacs are always a wonderful treat!

I have been so encouraged by the enthusiasm Lizzy Check has for Hungarian baking that I have included her recipe for Hungarian Fank here. I don’t think you are ever too old or too young to get caught in the kitchen cooking great food! Yes it takes time, but most people have a hard time resisting the lure of Hungarian dinners and desserts.
