Our Story

The Early Years

This is a photo from 1988. From left to right is Alan, Ernie, Liz and baby Lauren. Unfortunately, my mom isn’t in this picture but that was very typical of her…making significant contributions in a quiet way. Maybe you remember that first catalog. I remember laying it out! Thank you for being a part of our journey as a family and as a family business. The Hungarian community in the US and Canada is full of activity. We encourage you to get involved in some way! There are wonderful Hungarian traditions that you can work into the life of your family. Add some Magyar spice to your life!

Festival Fun

We had a great time at the Hungarian festival in New Brunswick, NJ. The rain held off all day! The wind tried to take our tent away but provided a much needed breeze!

It is great to meet so many customers face-to-face and hear the stories you share about my mom!!!

Our Story

WELCOME!
Family owned and operated, Magyar Marketing has been providing its customers with products relating to the Hungarian heritage since 1988. Our mother and grandmother, Elizabeth A. Szabo, founded this company as a way to provide American Hungarians with an opportunity to learn about different facets of Hungarian culture and celebrate their rich Hungarian heritage. Elizabeth passed away shortly after celebrating our 20th year in business, but we are continuing her legacy.

Magyar Marketing has grown to include loyal customers in every state as well as many countries. We have had many customers tell us they have saved every catalogue they have ever received from us. Thank you for being with us as we have grown through the years!

In October 2009 we relocated the business to Evansville, Indiana. Magyar Marketing will continue to provide you with Hungarian products and encouragement to share your Hungarian heritage with the people you love. Look for us at area Hungarian festivals or order all year round via the web or phone.

We would like to work with you to promote your Hungarian Club and Event. Please contact liz@magyarmarketing.com to discuss how we can work together to get the word out about your Hungarian events!

Please check our website often as we are always updating with new products. Sign up for our e-newsletter at our website to receive information about Hungarian events, traditions, recipes and more!

Important Magyar Marketing News

By now, a number of you have heard that our Mother and creator of Magyar Marketing, Elizabeth A. Szabo, passed away in November 2008. We appreciate the many kind words we have received since then. Some of you knew that our Mom had battled cancer for 7 years. She routinely defied predictions from the doctors from the very start of her diagnosis. We know that running Magyar Marketing provided her with the opportunity to connect with people in a meaningful way about a topic she was always passionate about–Hungarian heritage! Thank you for your partnership with her!

Naturally, we have a huge void here at Magyar Marketing as well as in each of our homes. Mom managed to involve each and every one of her immediate family, many of her extended family, and numerous friends in the different facets of Magyar Marketing. This will continue and so while we will all miss Mom, there will continue to be familiar faces at the festivals and familiar voices on the phone.

Do you have a story to share with us about our Mom? We are interested in hearing it! The grandchildren range in age from 5-21 and we are compiling little stories here and there about our Mom so that even the very youngest of the grandchildren will have some stories to read about their Nagymama (grandmother). If you have a story to tell about our Mom, please email magyarmail@sbcglobal.net We look forward to hearing from you!

We have been updating the website with photos and new products. Please check in often as we are adding new items frequently.
