Adventure in Transylvania 2017: May 31 – June 13
This tour will focus on the Hungarian communities in the “outer Hungary” area of Transylvania (Romania). You must leave the USA or CANADA on May 30th!
Transylvania is an area where there are a significant number of Hungarians who work hard to maintain their Hungarian heritage even though the borders have changed and they are now residents of Romania. This border change happened in 1920 as a result of the Treaty of Trianon.
We will meet in Bucharest, Romania at the airport and spend our days enjoying the people, foods, nature and handwork of Transylvania. Join us as we travel to Dracula’s Castle, St. Anna Lake and Red Lake, take part in the Csíksomlyó Pilgrimage and visit Székelyudvarhely, Hargita Mountain, and Szováta. We will continue to explore the region with a visit to the Parajd Salt Mine and Korond. After traveling to Kolozsvár, Torockó we will then participate in a cooking course and then make our way to Budapest.
The $2500 per person package price is based on double occupancy and includes all entrance fees to scheduled programs, two meals per day, 1st class air-conditioned coach, all accommodations, and an English-speaking guide during the entire trip. Flight and travel insurance is not included. There are still spots available on this trip. Please contact me if you are interested. After the $500 deposit, the additional payments are due January 15th and March 15th. Only checks and money orders are accepted at the stated price. Credit card charges will have a 5% surcharge.
